Most homes already have a CO detector. Most of those tell you almost nothing.
A green light isn't a reading. It's a guess.
The standard detector on most American walls is built to a code minimum. Silent below 70 PPM, even at levels that cause headaches, confusion, and worse. It tells you when there's a crisis. It doesn't tell you when there's a problem.
Show you the number.
Real-time PPM reading on a digital display, refreshed every second. You don't have to wonder if it's working. You can see it working.
Alarm at 30, not 70.
The standard threshold of 70 PPM is the level at which the law requires an alarm. By then, most people are already symptomatic. LiveRead alarms at 30, early enough to act.
Keep watching when the power doesn't.
Built-in 1000mAh lithium battery takes over instantly during an outage. Full sensor and alarm protection for the most dangerous 2 hours, when most CO accidents happen.
How it works
Trust the number. Not a guess.
Air enters through side vents while internal sensors monitor your home in real time. Readings are displayed directly on the screen for clear, immediate understanding.

The green light was never enough.
We had the same Kidde for nine years. My doctor said my morning headaches were probably stress. On day one Melicior read 14 PPM in our kitchen. Stress was not the problem.

I bought one for our 1908 house and one for my mother's kitchen. I check it the way I check the thermostat. It is just information and that is exactly what I wanted.

I'm a retired home inspector. I have put one in every house I own and three of my kids' houses. The placement at outlet height matters more than people realize.

I put one near the furnace and one upstairs. Now the whole house feels covered in a way our old detector never did.

Answers to the questions people ask most.
How is Melicior different from a Kidde or First Alert?
Standard household detectors are designed to make a sound only when the carbon monoxide level is high enough to be considered an emergency. Below that threshold, no sound, just a green light that tells you the device has power. Melicior shows you the actual live reading in PPM every second, so you see the air change before it ever reaches a dangerous level.
Does it detect smoke?
No, and that is intentional. Smoke rises, your smoke alarm needs to be on the ceiling where it has always been. Melicior sits at outlet height because that is where carbon monoxide and combustible gas concentrate. Different physics, different placement, different job. Keep your smoke alarms on the ceiling. Add Melicior to the outlet.
Where should I place it?
Place it where your home naturally gives you the clearest read on the air, usually in a hallway outside sleeping areas and on each level of the home. If the room has a furnace, water heater, fireplace, or gas appliance, keep it close enough to be useful, but not right beside the source, and not near windows, doors, vents, or anything that can block airflow. Natural gas and propane do not behave the same way, so the best spot can shift depending on what you are trying to monitor. Follow the manual for your exact room and appliance setup. CPSC recommends CO alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas, and Kidde notes that additional alarms are often placed 5 to 20 feet from sources like a furnace, water heater, or fireplace.
What happens if the power goes out?
The internal battery backup keeps Melicior running for approximately two hours during a power outage. The display stays live and alarms still fire if dangerous levels are detected. The battery recharges automatically once power is restored.
Do I need an app or Wi-Fi?
No. Melicior is a standalone device. The reading is on the screen. No app, no subscription, no Wi-Fi setup, no account to create.
What does the 90-Day Guarantee cover?
If it is not the right fit, you can send it back within 90 days of delivery for a refund. Return shipping is not covered. This gives you time to try Melicior in your home and make sure it feels right.
